The performer begins by inviting a spectator on stage to share something very unique with them.  The performer introduces a small brown cardboard box to the spectator with a label on it that says Magic Gremlins in a Box. The label resembles that of the old vintage comic book ads for such things as X-Ray Specs or Sea Monkeys to name a couple.

The performer begins to tell his audience that he acquired his Magic Gremlins by ordering them from an old comic book he had lying around in the attic... and low and behold this is what he received and for only USD $2.98 plus shipping and handling of course.

He tells the spectator that the box is indeed full of Magic Gremlins, however they are so small that they cannot be seen with the naked eye but they are so powerful that they can lift and move objects 1 million times their own body weight.

Now the magic begins! The performer asks the spectator to stand back and hands them a pair of sunglasses to wear, the performer also wears his own pair, and carefully opens the lid to the box and a green radioactive glow emits from within, gaining hilarious reactions.

The performer now places the box on a near by table and steps away as he says the Magic Gremlins can be very unpredictable if handled incorrectly. He calls over to the Gremlins to see if they are awake and ready to play. The box then begins to shake and rock from side to side and moves all by itself on the table top proving that the box is indeed full of real live Magic Glowing Gremlins.

The performer states that unlike Sea Monkeys, these small and adorable creatures can actually be taught how to perform real tricks. They are so intelligent that the performer tells his spectator that he has actually taught the Gremlins how to perform not just a trick but an amazing MAGIC trick.

A deck of cards is introduced and a card is selected. The chosen card is replaced, lost inside the deck and shuffled by the spectator. The entire deck is now placed inside the glowing box full of Magic Gremlins. After some comical by-play, the performer now asks the Gremlins to also shuffle the deck, and the box begins to shake and rock sided to side etc, as if the cards are actually being shuffled. He then asks the Gremlins to search for the spectator's chosen card. The box begins to move once again and then amazingly the box leans forward slightly toward the audience by itself and a card pops up out of the top of the glowing box. The performer takes the card and shows it to the spectator and the audience, and incredibly it is indeed the chosen card! AMAZING!

But the routine isn't over just yet. The magician puts the card back into the box and brings out a Sharpie and says "The amazing Magic Gremlins will now sign the card for you as a souvenir". The Sharpie is placed inside the box, and after some more comical by-play the Sharpie begins to move. The end of the Sharpie is seen sticking out of the top of the box as it wiggles around inside the box apparently as if the Gremlins are really signing the chosen card! The Sharpie then stops, and the performer asks the Gremlins if the card is signed, and then tries to take the Sharpie out of the box but each time the Gremlins move it just out of the reach of the magician, creating a hilarious interaction. "It's so hard to find good gremlins these days" the performer says. He asks the Gremlins to play nice, and they abide by letting the performer finally remove the Sharpie. The Sharpie is removed and the box tilts slightly forward as the card pops back out, but this time it has a signature across the face that says:

THE MAGIC GREMLIN

The card is then given to the spectator to keep as a souvenir.
The performer now asks for a big round of applause and the Gremlins tilt the box forward once again for a final bow!

And best of all the unit can host more than one program so you can have it set up to run two totally different routines all together at any given time without ever having to re-program the unit between effects.

This effect can be programmed to play for a long or short time in your act without ever losing your audience's attention. It's small and deceptive enough to do close up, but large enough that it can be done on stage or in parlor situations, and is an absolute dream to travel with due to its small size.

Phase One: The magician punches a hole through a freely chosen and signed card. He covers the hole with his fingertips and mysteriously slides it to a different location on the card! The hole is unquestionably real and the spectator's can see right through it.

Effect

Totally based on the paddle move, this performance is about four minutes long. Designed to be performed on table hopping, with an astonishing climax, no smoking is set up to be an interactive routine where your audience is involved.

Totally based on the good ol' paddle move, you will not use a paddle with dots, but real "Bic" lighters. On its side, a "No Smoking" sign appears and vanishes at will. FANCY A DRINK? 

Drink-O is an extremely commercial mentalism routine that uses very simple, but devious methods, to deliver a powerful multi-phased effect that packs a real ‘punch’! 

This is an effect where you are able to “up the ante” over a number of very different and entertaining ‘rounds’.

The drinks theme plays really well with laypeople, offers you great patter lines, and the colourful and durable props are both attractive and practical. 
This is an audience tested effect that gets great reactions, which will ensure it takes pride of place in your wallet, ready to wow audiences at a moments notice.

EFFECT: The performer displays six cards from a drinking game titled “Drink-O” each card is shown to have a different drink printed upon its face.  These cards are fairly shuffled by the mentalist and are then handed to a spectator.

The mentalist then turns his back allowing the spectator select a drink at random from the group (this is a genuinely random selection).   The spectator is requested to commit its name to memory and then bury it amongst the remaining cards.   Only then does the mentalist turn to face the audience.  Stating that he is having some difficulty he requests that the cards are given to a second spectator for shuffling.  (Note: at no point does the mentalist touch the cards).

The mentalist jokingly claims that the second helper may be a lot more predictable.  This claim is further proven as the mentalist is amazingly able to predict which drink will remain on the table after a quick fire elimination round.

Things then take a turn for the strange when both the spectator and mentalist take turns at "mixing their drinks" and correctly identify the drinks that each other is thinking of.

Returning to the first spectator the mentalist recaps the fairness of the procedure and is then remarkably able to name (with no questions asked) which drink they were thinking of but is also able to reveal a thought of country and number which was rolled on an imaginary dice!!!

Imagine the following. You borrow a deck of cards and say you'll show how to stack cards for a game of poker.

However it will be too easy for you to do so yourself, so instead you'll teach a spectator how to use their intuition to stack the cards. All the high cards are removed from the deck, to form a small pile. A spectator uses his/her intuition to cut the pile and push the two halves together to form a mess. He then deals the cards, using his intuition for a second time, into a few piles.

The spectator selects a card, remembers it and places it out of view. A second spectator also selects a card and remembers it. With your hands in FULL view, the first spectator takes any lighter. A spectator shuffles a deck of cards and another spectator simply names any of the four suits. The magician retrieves the pack and then quickly cuts it into 10 piles. Amazingly, the first packet is counted and found to contain just one card! The second packet contains two cards, the third three cards and so on, all the way through to the last packet containing exactly 10 cards!

The top card of each packet is then turned over (remember the deck was shuffled by a spectator at the beginning), and assuming that the spectator chose Spades as the suit, the first card is the Ace of Spades. The card on top of the second packet is the Two of Spades, on top of the third packet is the Three of Spades and so on all the way through the rest of the packets!

The Ace through Ten of Spades are then set aside and the deck is reassembled. The Jack of Spades is then found on top of the deck and the Queen and King of Spades are found on the bottom!

The deck is then cut again, this time into three piles which are shown to each contain the thirteen cards of the remaining suits, in numerical order!

When I was young, my uncle Peter fooled me badly with a simple X-Ray Vision stunt. It played serious havoc with my developing mind. Pete had been using his X-Ray Vision to "see through" the table top in order to identify how many fingers I was holding aloft. He hit it time and time again. I was later crushed, when dad explained that he'd simply been coding the information, to my uncle, via surreptitious foot tapping. In due course it was I who was performing the demonstration, and I've been fascinated with the X-Ray Vision plot ever since.

My one man show, HELLucinations, is my core act-the one I fall back upon for all of my highly paid professional work. Purporting to replicate the demonstrations of the legendary Dr. Elmer William Bishop, the show commences with some direct and perplexing "card reading" and then quickly moves through a series of unbelievable-looking demonstrations of supposed X-Ray Vision. These, among other demonstrations, include "seeing through" a heavy iron box to reveal which card a spectator has reversed in the deck, AND IT'S EXACT POSITION in said deck. It is a demonstration repeated over and over, the conditions becoming more stringent every time.

The show, presented in all seriousness, can play for thirty minutes or an hour and a half. It leaves the audience completely convinced that I have the powers of X-Ray Vision-even with a full disclaimer. This, my friends, is real bread and butter stuff.

Secretly, I have always wanted a "casual" demonstration of these supposed powers-something that could be performed with any deck of cards, at any time!

And, that's exactly what we have here, in THE XRAY DECK. Steve has done a wonderful job, completely solving the problem-creating a practical, perform anywhere solution for the effect. He's then gone on to clearly and concisely detail every nuance of his clever and direct method.

The XRay effect
The performer removes a deck from the case and gives it a complete shuffle. He thumbs through the deck to demonstrate that all the cards are different, and the deck is complete. Placing the deck on the table, he instructs the spectator that he will leave the room. While the performer is gone, the spectator is to cut the deck anywhere with a simple cut, turn the card cut to face up, memorize the card, and put the cut off portion back on the deck, leaving the selection face up. The spectator is then to take the deck, put it in the case and seal the case, leave the cased deck on the table, and signal the magician to return to the room. The performer leaves the room, the spectator does as instructed and the performer returns.

The performer explains that he has developed an uncanny ability to see the hidden-almost a type of X-Ray vision. Without ever touching the case, the performer focuses an intense gaze on the boxed deck. Much to the astonishment of onlookers, he reveals the name of the card that has been inverted!

But now things get even crazier. He again focuses his gaze on the box, and finally calls out a number. Again, he never touches the box. He instructs the spectator to take the cards out of the box, and deal the cards one at a time onto the table face up, counting for each card dealt. Tension builds as the spectator nears the number called. When the number is reached, there is the spectator's face up card! Not only has the performer accurately perceived the chosen card in a deck sealed in a box, but he named the actual position of the card as well!

CLIP WORD - A new and novel approach to the classic effect.
In this version the participant has the choice of which end you cut off lines from. You can either snip lines off the bottom or off the top. It makes no difference, but the outcome will be different depending on which end the participant tells you to cut from. A prediction is on the table in full view from the start. After the participant tells the performer to stop cutting, he immediately hands the column to the participant to check the last word on the column or the first word depending on which end he had you cut off. Unbelievably, you have predicted the exact word the stopped he you at. Instead of a prediction, you can call your wife or girlfriend and hand the phone to the participant. She tells him the word he is thinking of! Do this without the use of any nail writings, carbons or secret writing. No skill and extremely easy to do, but mind-boggling to your audiences.

NO-TOUCH CLIP LINE - Do Clip Line WITHOUT touching the column. You hand the participant an ungimmicked column cut from any newspaper and pair of scissors. You turn your back and he cuts off a block of lines from the column. You do not know (really) how many lines he cut off. You have him cut off a few more lines, again you really don't know how many lines he cut off. Now hear this, with your back still turned, you tell him the last line of the remaining column in his hand. You can do this over the phone. You mail a column to a friend with a note to get a pair of scissors and call you when he gets the column. He cuts the column while on the phone. You ask NO questions, yet, you are able to reveal the last line left on the column. One of the most amazing telephone effects ever created and it is almost self-working. So easy to do, you will kick yourself for not thinking of it.

A deck of cards are dealt face up on to the table by the spectator. 

They stop dealing at any point and you remove a single note from your wallet.

HISTORY
German magician Bruno Hennig invented the "Signed Card To Box". This powerhouse effect has seen countless improvements and modifications over the decades since it's creation.

The effect has been used by thousands of magicians and has fooled countless spectators. The effect is so powerful that many magicians close their shows with it. But every magician that has used this classic has always had a single thought in the back of their mind...if I could just do this, it would be perfect. The Lightning Box is perfect!

THE DREAM
I've been personally performing the "Signed Card To Box" since my earliest days in magic. I've tried all of the variations. While many of them worked and were very good like most magicians that have used the effect I kept thinking "what if it could just do this...".

So in the mid-1990's I set out to create the perfect container for the effect. First I created some very stringent goals.

1. The box must look like an ordinary object.
2. The box must be able to work with any color/ back design playing card plus other objects such as money, business cards and billets. The objects must be the complete objects so the spectators can see depth.
3. The box must be able to use the Jamy Ian Swiss work for ultimate deception.
4. The box must be durable and able to withstand countless performances for professional use.
5. The box must have the ability to be shown empty both BEFORE and AFTER the revelation.
6. The lid must stay on for transport but be easy to remove.
7. The container must easily go through airport security.
8. The Reset must be automatic.

THE SOLUTION
After countless prototypes I finally developed a working model. It worked but to be perfect I enlisted the help of professionals.

Thomas Wayne and Royal Jenner contributed concepts. Mike Lapidus did the final design and built the final prototype. Thanks to these gentleman for doing a great job.

The process of going from my working model to the final prototype took four years. Constant testing and fine-tuning have paid off. The LIghtning Box is no longer a pipe dream.

The Lightning Box has solved all of the problems and meet my goals.

1. The Lightning Box looks like a high quality jewelry box. I modeled after a cuff link box I purchased.
2. Users can very easily swap out the object inside the box. It takes about one minute. You can use any playing card, any type of paper currency from any country, you can use business cards or billets. Many other objects will certainly find there way into the Lightning Box for example sugar packets, small envelopes etc. It's up to the user to decide. The best part is all objects are real objects. Spectators can see all three dimensions because the objects are full cards etc.
3. The LIghtning Box is a cylinder with a removable lid. It's small enough to easily fit into your pocket. The CNC machining was designed to leave plenty of space so that you can add other objects that will fall out of the box to increase the illusion. The box is deep enough to easily contain .75" casino dice, 4 half dollars, candy, mints etc. Any small objects can be used.
4. The material we used to construct the Lightning Box is Black ABS Plastic. The material works real well for this application. It's tough and durable yet it's very lightweight. No sagging pockets. The Lightning Box is manufactured by a very high end CNC machine shop on computer controlled lathes and milling machines. Each Lightning Box is exactly the same and built to exacting specifications.
5. You can show the Lightning Box empty at the beginning of the routine and empty again after the signed card is revealed.
6. The lid is held in place by a high impact "O" ring that is used for hydraulic applications. It holds the lid in place yet it's easy for the spectators to remove. The Lightning Box comes with a backup that you can install in seconds if you ever wear it out.
7. The Lightning Box goes through airport security like butter. Professionals can easily take it on the plane with them.
8. Reset time is instantaneous. No trap doors to pry open or attempting to balance in an open position. The Lightning Box does the work for you.

The Lightning Box
So what is come included with the Lightning Box?

First and most important is the Lightning Box. This box is gimmicked. The solution is diabolical yet extremely practical. It is built to last. The best way to think about the Lightning Box is as a utility prop. It's super easy to use as the Lightning Box does most of the work for you.

A simple discussion into the art of subliminal advertising is shown to have deeply affected a spectator’s actions.

The mentalist displays a simple company logo and explains how subliminal advertising has been shown to influence the subconscious mind.  During a brief discussion into this subject the spectator is handed some cards. An Introduction
Corporate entertainer Anthony Lindan has closed every engagement for the past fifteen years with his Incredible Suit Jacket Escape. Honed over thousands of performances in every possible environment and for every kind of audience the Incredible Suit Jacket Escape is large scale, one-man illusion that fills a stage and fits in a briefcase.

Routine Description
The performer explains that he would like to close his show with an homage to the incredible magician and escape artist Harry Houdini. One of Harry Houdini's amazing feats was to escape from a straight jacket. Now it was legendary that Houdini was in such peak physical shape that he was able to dislocate body parts and free himself from some of the toughest straight jackets ever manufactured. The performer admits that he is not exactly in the phenomenal physical condition Houdini was, so in honour of the great master, he will attempt to escape from his own suit jacket! As the audience laughter dies down, the performer explains that to make things more challenging, his hands will be cuffed together, making it nearly impossible for him to make his escape. Two volunteers are invited to the stage to inspect the handcuffs and locks, and proceed to lock the performers hands behind his back. A curtain that encircles the performer is raised by the two volunteers. It's at this point that the hilarious mayhem begins! The curtain is raised and lowered several times, each time revealing the performer (and his jacket) in more and more ludicrous physical positions. The jacket is half on half off, then it's on completely backwards, then it's almost off but the cuffs are snagged painfully between the performer's legs! Impossibly the jacket ends up hanging free from the performer's head and his hands are still cuffed behind his back! Suddenly he offers a free hand to shake the hand of the volunteer on his left and just a suddenly he offers his other to shake the volunteer's hand on his right, and the audience laughs their way into a huge round of applause!

What the heck are Fidh Lan Sticks?

Well, basically it is a method of doing readings that uses 4 small sticks.

Why do we get SO excited about these silly sticks? Well, lots of reasons. They are VISUAL, they are interesting to look at. Very vew people have ever seen them, so unlike Tarot and Palmistry where people may decide to argue with you about meanings, with Fidh Lan YOU are the expert right away!

Each stick has a single spot on one side, and the opposite side has two spots. When the sticks are laid down one above the other, they can form 1 of 16 patterns.

Each pattern is a simple pictograph that represents something. From this, the reading grows. Some of the things that make Fidh Lan SO awesome is that it is small, light weight, visible, easy to learn, easy to understand, few of your clients will have seen or heard of it before so there are no pre-conceived ideas or fears as with Palms or Tarot.

Tarot cards are harder to learn, and some people can be downright scared of them- not good for all clients. Palm reading is more complex, and can be tricky for the first time reader, and in some situations might be too intimate. Fidh Lan, a simplified form of Geomancy, is easy to learn, looks like nothing they have seen before and by its nature looks kind of magical and different.

The sticks can also be "themed" to fit a variety of different kinds of events. They can become Wizard sticks, Witch Lots, Fairy Twigs and many other things. The basic method can be adapted to reading shells, coins, dirt- or even done with a pad and paper.

We cover ways to do a simple quickie reading, answer a question, and more in depth methods of reading that use various colors and levels to add complexity to the reading. We teach a basic one figure reading, as well as more complex readings using Tarot-type "spreads."

Haiku is a form of codified poetry that first appeared in Japan in the second half of the seventeenth century.  It consists of a collection of very short texts, usually three lines, describing an image, a landscape, an emotion, a feeling.

Introducing the book to your spectator you ask them to select any page (genuine free and unknown choice) they are further instructed to silently read the text to themselves.

Once the spectator has done this they are instructed to hide the book and are asked to visualize what they have just read.

Without asking any questions the mentalist is able to accurately describe the spectators thoughts or even draw the very image they have in their mind.

The book itself is very appealing to look at and handle and since it is more than a word revelation it creates a powerful and lasting impression with your audience.

The book contains over 120 pages and measures a tiny 4"x2"

For years magicians have been making signed cards appear in envelopes. Consignment has taken a giant leap forward with this effect! The ingenious gimmick means that the envelope can be out on the table before the card is even selected. This is definitely out of the box thinking.

Effect:

The magician introduces a small envelope that is left in full view on the table. Next, a card is selected and signed by the spectator. The card is then lost in the deck and the deck is slipped back into the box and placed in the magician's pocket. The magician then draws attention to the envelope on the table. The envelope is opened and the signed card is found inside! It's that direct!

Points to remember:

Any card can be signed.
The envelope is in full view throughout.
It all happens right under the spectator's nose and they don't suspect a thing.

The Inexplicable Bill in Lemon Effect - A reputation-making effect where a bill, marked in three completely different ways, is found inside of a lemon taken from a small, sealed box that was in the possession of a member of the audience. The Incredible Water Glass Suspension - A metaphor for how important it is to let go of things in our lives if we wish to change, the performer dips a wooden spoon into a large transparent glass of water and then removes his hand, leaving the heavy glass suspended in space.

A Gift to the Audience: To Risk - A poem by Hedda Gold - If Barrie only had five minutes and had to make a choice between performing a trick and reciting a poem that had meaning for most of the audience, he would choose the poem...and this one is one of his favorites.

VOLUME TWO - THE MAGIC OF YOUR MIND

Choices Have Consequences - A Bank Night effect with meaning, three envelopes are presented to two spectators yet the performer is left with the big prize. Nevertheless, the performer is also forced to learn that choices do, indeed, have consequences. No gimmicks, no forces - just a fun routine that can be performed anywhere.

Second Spot - Barrie's version of Fogel's classic psychometry routine is performed in the context of the amazing story of the Uruguayan athletes who survived a plane crash in the Andes Mountains. The owners of five borrowed objects are successfully divined with plenty of laughter, fun, and mystery.

Mesmer's Pencil - A demonstration of "animal magnetism." A pencil resting on the performer's hand rises as a female audience member draws near. She then discovers, after the performer suggests that the pencil is now very heavy, that she cannot lift it. After she changes the image in her mind, the pencil becomes light again and it is given to her as a souvenir. This routine has been used by some of the most distinguished mentalists in the world.

Dollar Divination - The performer demonstrates his ability to determine six of the serial numbers from any borrowed bill with only his fingertips. He then has one spectator mentally transmit the last two digits to another with total accuracy. Versatile for close-up or stage.

Angel's Flight - Even though the performer is at quite some distance, he reveals the playing cards the audience members are thinking of. Finally, the entire audience, using their collective imagination, divines the number of cards that were previously hidden away. A wonderful mystery wrapped in a true story that also utilizes a totally novel - and very deceptive - deck switch!

Thoughts with Wings - A newspaper section is torn into small pieces by a spectator, who then selects a single piece. She is then asked to mentally select a single word from the page and with absolutely no questions asked, the performer correctly reveals the chosen word. A stunning display of what can only be actual mind reading.

VOLUME THREE - MENTAL AEROBICS: MEMORY AND METAPHOR

Quartet - Playing cards are fairly shuffled by a spectator and yet, when the cards are distributed to four participants, the performer reveals them with stunning speed and inerrancy. This is an extremely commercial effect that looks and feels like a genuine demonstration of extraordinary memory power.

Zebras and The Magic Square - A magic square routine that serves as a metaphor for how people too readily accept an easy answer while discounting other options. The audience interaction makes this demonstration a lively and memorable experience with none of the participants likely to ever forget what not seeing a zebra means.
