"Cheque Mate" is an effect that I came up with 10 years ago. I wanted something more than a bill switch but liked the idea of turning a blank piece of paper into a £20.00 note. It then struck me that it would make sense to tear out a cheque from a cheque book and change that into a £20.00 note. And what if you could, with a click of your fingers, turn a whole chequebook of blank cheque's into a chequebook full of £20.00's and "Cheque Mate" was born. I made a few books a dew years back and they've stayed on the back burner until now and is I'm sure something that ALL close-up magicians will want in their armoury.
You are supplied with a specially printed cheque book which works in the same way as a svengali deck of cards ie. Flick through the book one way and the pages are blank cheque's, flick through the other way and hey presto, a book full of money and just in case you perform in either America or Europe or the UK, dont worry because sterling, euro and dollar currencies are all there!
Graeme from Magicbox - " This is a must have item for any table hopper, when you approach a table you ask "Has anyone lost their cheque book???" as you flick through the blank cheques. The spectators will always protest that it doesn't belong to them. At this point you have them, you remark "Looks like this must be mine then" as you flick through the pages showing the cash! This always receives a great response and wins over the crowd giving you a perfect lead in to your magic!
